The Cathartic Power of Game Design with Marilia Poggiali episode was great! Usually I’m quite militant about gleaning every drop of game design wisdom from BGDL podcasts and I almost skipped this episode because of it’s title. I’m so glad I did not skip it as Marilia’s story melted my heart! Gabe’s reactions to attempted comments of sympathy made me LOL but only because how true those reactions rang for me. All the best luck to you Mrs. Poggiali!
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Great episode! My wife and are are nurses in different areas (labor/delivery and medical/surgical/rehabilitation, respectively) and deal with many instances of loss. I lost both of my parents to cancer in 2017 within 7 months of each other. I have loved this episode because it addresses incredible and practical ways of moving through loss. You both also include very powerful ideas of how onlookers can help those going through grief through very meaningful ways. Thank you!
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for listening!
Gabe,
This was a well-conducted interview. There were definitely moments during the story that I started to cry a bit given the gravity of the events surrounding her loss. She has definitely taken that pain and constructed a future which memorializes him.
Cheers,
Joe
