Very good discussion ~ and quite timely as I was recently having a similar conversation with fellow-developers. I love to cook and a good developer is like a really good sous chef…they can blend things together with the direction of the chef to make something truly remarkable, while too little or too much of something can utterly destrtoy the meal.
