Juliana Patel and Ariel Rubin, designers of Escape Room in a Box, discuss the ins and outs of creating an escape room game.
Juliana and Ariel are busy moms who find time to get together and design games, and they have a ton of insight on what makes a great escape experience. Escape Room in a Box was the first escape room board game to show up when it hit Kickstarter last year, and it’s now been picked up by Mattel.
You can preorder Mattel’s version of Escape Room in a Box here. And Juliana and Ariel will even design a custom experience for your next get together here.

Really enjoyed this episode. It shows you can break the mould if you are passionate enough. Keep up the great work.
Definitely. Thanks for listening!
I love hearing from these two! I remember when the kickstarter hit, and I was walking around work getting people excited about it. No one had ever heard of an escape room in a box, and it was a gamble that totally paid off. This game actually inspired us to make an escape room for our daughter’s birthday (which was also a hit).
Yeah, Juliana and Ariel are awesome people. I’m so glad their work inspired you to do cool stuff of your own.
