Bez designed a system called the ELL Deck a while back, and we get into everything a designer has to think about when working on a project that’s going to consist of more than one game.

Gabe, speaking of game systems. Have you played a Pax game by Sierra Madre Games before? The most popular one is Pax Pamir by Cole Werhle, but there are 5 total Pax games and they are each masterpieces in their own right. Especially Pax Renaissance. I mention this to say, if you could ever interview Phil or Matthew Eklund (Phil’s son) to talk about game systems, you would have a real home run of an interview. I recommend Phil or Matt because their games are much more complex than Cole’s Pamir, and also, Cole does interviews a lot already, so it wouldn’t be as “rare” as an interview with either of the Eklunds. These guys and their games are nuts. I would be happy to teach any of them to you.

Thanks for the suggestion. I know of the Pax series, but I haven’t had a chance to play one yet. I’ll look into an episode on game series.
I meant systems, but you could do series as well. Their game systems have so many interlocking parts, amazing. If you want to learn one pls email me! Takes 20-45 minutes to learn. Games are 20-30 minutes per player.
